Life After LifeLife After Life by Kate Atkinson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think this is going to go down as a classic. Ponders some universal themes in a new and challenging manner. Brilliantly executed!!

The Marriage PlotThe Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The only beef I have with this book is that every time got interested in a character's narrative, the author would switch perspective. I consider this a sign of a good story-teller though so I forgive the irritation.

An Idiot Abroad: The Travel Diaries of Karl PilkingtonAn Idiot Abroad: The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington by Karl Pilkington

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love this tv show. This was a fun little supplement to go along with it, even though much was the same. Karl is just so ridiculously ignorant. If he doesn't offend you, you'll find him hilarious.

ArcadiaArcadia by Lauren Groff

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was a bit skeptical about this book. I didn't think I'd enjoy reading about people in a commune. Of course, it was about much more than that. This was really a surprisingly lovely story about hope, love, and family.

The Iron King (The Accursed Kings, #1)The Iron King by Maurice Druon

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It was interesting reading some of the Game of Thrones source material. This was well written and I'd like to read the others if they all get re-issued. Was a part of history I was not familiar with so it was informative as well as entertaining.

The Dark Heroine: Dinner with a VampireThe Dark Heroine: Dinner with a Vampire by Abigail Gibbs

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I wanted a quick, uncomplicated, entertaining read after finishing Marcus Aurelius. This fit the bill quite nicely. The writing was not all that great but the story was fun. It feels like there will be sequels and I look forward to reading them.

MeditationsMeditations by Marcus Aurelius

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It's funny how the same troubles have bothered us since the beginning of time. I had a hard time keeping in mind that these were private journals that he never believed would be published. It seemed like he was addressing an audience of more than just himself. My favorite parts were when he would admonish himself for wanting to stay in bed and sleep in. I can understand why some people make a ritual out of reading this book every year.
