Review: The Miniaturist

The Miniaturist The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I don't know about this one. The relationships between the characters were so strange and didn't always seem to make sense. There were some interesting plot twists but they weren't all resolved. This book felt unfinished.

Review: Trapped

Trapped Trapped by Kevin Hearne
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Too much time spent on romantic sub-plot. Hopefully the next book will be back to form.

Review: The Knife of Never Letting Go

The Knife of Never Letting Go The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I did not love this but I give it credit for being different. I will not be watching the movie or reading the other books.

Review: Tricked

Tricked Tricked by Kevin Hearne
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Coyote is a fun God so this was pretty entertaining, even if he was underutilized.

Review: No Country for Old Gnomes

No Country for Old Gnomes No Country for Old Gnomes by Delilah S. Dawson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoy the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. Sometimes they are the best part.

I liked this one better than book one. It was sweet and funny and a nice tale about tolerance.

Review: The Dreamers

The Dreamers The Dreamers by Karen Thompson Walker
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this but when it was all said and done, I'm not really sure there was much of a point to it. It was beautifully written and hard to put down, you read want to know what's going to happen and the characters are wonderful. I was just a bit underwhelmed when it was done.

Review: Everything, Everything

Everything, Everything Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

It was a good idea. It felt like the shortness of the chapters prevented you from diving deep in to the story itself. When the drama occurred, it wasn't felt as sharply as it could have been.

Review: How to Build a Girl

How to Build a Girl How to Build a Girl by Caitlin Moran
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Some of this seemed a bit shocking, but this might have been more a reflection of my age than that of the character. That aside, the whole idea of "building a girl" was very familiar and relatable.

Review: Robin

Robin Robin by Dave Itzkoff
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is one of the more thorough and well-written biographies I've read in a long time. I found myself going back to my Netflix queue while reading this and adding movies I haven't seen in a long time but remember enjoying. I admit, the end of this book made me very weepy.
