Review: The Mortifications

The Mortifications The Mortifications by Derek Palacio
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Quite an interesting cast of characters. Even though it's hard to like them all the time, the author makes them feel like they are your own family, and you love them anyway. A lot of the book is told via the character's thoughts. There's not as much dialogue as in an average novel (but there's also no quotation marks used so that might be partly an illusion) so the narrative has a dreamy quality to it that is very lovely. I wasn't sure I was going to like this book when I first picked it up but it really grew on me.
